Dr. Paul’s Megatabolism Breakfast

We have all heard it recommended by many health professionals — the most important and largest meal of the day should be breakfast. To help me remember this, I like the saying, “breakfast like a king, lunch like a prince, and dinner like a pauper”. Tons of really good scientific research supports this eating pattern, along with including a few healthy protein snacks in between. This eating pattern will launch your metabolism into overdrive!

Megatabolism breakfastIn keeping with starting the day with a nourishing breakfast, this one has proven the most effective for me and all of the athletes, clients and research study participants I work with- there are lots of options to suit your likes as well, get ready to supercharge your metabolism first thing in the morning!


  • 1/4 cup steel cut oats, dry
  • 1 cup of water
  • 1 tbsp. chia seeds
  • 1/3 apple, diced
  • 1/4 cup blueberries, fresh or frozen
  • 3 oz greek plain yogurt
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 2 egg whites

Optional: you can replace the yogurt with 1 scoop of a protein powder, either whey or pea protein

Bring 1 cup of water to a boil and add the oats, reduce to simmer for 15 minutes. Add apple, berries, chia seeds and cinnamon and let sit additional 5 minutes. Place in bowl and add yogurt. Spray pan with olive oil, separate egg whites onto pan, add pepper for seasoning and cook on low/medium heat until firm.
